5 Tips to Keep Your Home Pest-Free

With summer in full swing, you’ve probably noticed plenty of wasps, bees, and creepy crawlers making their nests and settling in around your home — outside, at least. But having a stray pest make its way inside your house is inevitable. Now is the perfect time to focus on pest control. Here are five tips to keep your home pest-free this summer.

1. Repair Cracks or Holes

The best way to keep out unwanted pests is to stop them from entering in the first place. Have a look around your house and make sure there are no cracks or holes in the walls, floors, or window frames. Fill in any gaps you find with sealant or caulk.

2. Store Food Properly

Any food left out in the open is like a magnet for pests. Keep all food stored in the pantry or the refrigerator in sealed containers, and always ensure the cupboards and fridge doors are shut. Especially avoid leaving out food that could attract pests, such as sugar, nuts, rice, and flour.

3. Clean the Kitchen and Bathroom

The kitchen and bathroom are the most common places for pests — cockroaches, especially — to find shelter. Regularly clean the kitchen and bathroom, and keep kitchen counters free of food scraps. Wipe up spills immediately and vacuum regularly.

4. Use Traps and Bait

Traps and bait can get rid of pests that have already invaded your home. Placing insect bait near possible points of entry can also help keep your home pest-free.

5. Call a Professional

If you’ve tried the above tips and still can’t get rid of pests, consider calling an exterminator. They have the tools and knowledge to deal with pest infestations effectively.

These five tips can help you keep your home pest-free through summer and beyond. If you find yourself dealing with an infestation, don’t forget to call in the experts.
